Alarms Service Overview
The NPM Alarms Service provides a mechanism to access different sources of network monitoring data and provide alarm notifications based on that data, according to a set of user-defined rules.
Standards Compliance
The software is designed to be standards compliant, through the use of the OGF NM-WG schema for the representation of network measurements. Messages between the Alarms Service and network measurement frameworks comply with the NM-WG schema.
Supported Measurement Frameworks
Use of the NM-WG schema allows access data to from following currently supported measurement frameworks:
Supported Alarm Types
The following alarm types are currently supported:
- Route Change
- Routing Out of Network
- Router Interface Errors
- Router Interface Congestion
For more details see the alarm definitions page.
Status Display and Notification
The architecture of the Alarms Service is designed to support multiple notification mechanisms. Currently the Nagios system is used to display the status of the networks monitored by the Alarms Service and to send notifications on status changes.
